Polymer Extrusion by Dr. Chris Rauwendaal

1. Table of Contents
2. Description: 2001 777 pages 582 figures 49 tables - More than 15 years have passed since the first edition of Polymer Extrusion was published - making it one of the most enduring (and best-selling) books on the subject. And now a new edition of this classic book is available!  Completely revised, the goal of Polymer Extrusion, 4th edition is to bridge the gap between theory and practice. This book demonstrates how extrusion theory can be applied to actual extrusion problems such as screw design, die design, and troubleshooting. Because screw design is an area where misconceptions can still be found, a major chapter is devoted to the logical, step-by-step analysis of the screw design and optimization process. Extensive changes and additions to this new edition make it a must-have for practicing polymer process engineers and chemists. Professors and students in these areas will also find this book very useful.

SPC in Injection Molding and Extrusion By Dr. Chris Rauwendaal

Table of Contents

2000 250 pages 134 figures 30 tables - The goal of this book is to both teach the principles of statistical process control, SPC, and extrusion and injection molding (IM) process technology in an integrated fashion.  The book is intended to help in the introduction of SPC in extrusion and Injection Molding operations; also to teach the main elements of extrusion and IM technology and to show, in detail, how extrusion and Injection Molding machinery should be configured to achieve good performance and how the process can be run most efficiently.  This book can be used by people without experience in statistical process control or extrusion or IM.

Troubleshooting the Extrusion Process
By Dr. Chris Rauwendaal and Maria del Pilar Noriega E.

Table of Contents

2001 158 pages 103 figures 29 tables - One of the greatest challenges in actual extrusion operations is efficient and rapid problem solving. Extrusion problems often result in downtime and/or out-of-spec product, and this can be very costly. However, because of the nature of the extrusion process, it is often quite difficult to determine the cause of the problem and find the proper solution, particularly if it must be done quickly.

Despite the industrial importance of extrusion troubleshooting, no book currently deals exclusively with this topic. This book rectifies this situation.

This book addresses all issues crucial in extrusion troubleshooting. In addition, industrial case studies, which are richly illustrating with color photographs and photomicrographs, are used to provide exemplary approaches to efficient problem analysis and problem solving.

Both authors have worked in extrusion for many years and have been involved in many troubleshooting projects. Although it is impossible to discuss all possible extrusion problems, it is possible to discuss the main categories and to develop a systematic and methodical approach to solving extrusion problems. In this book, the authors frequently use flow charts and fishbone charts to allow systematic troubleshooting.
